Smithsonian and the Washington Monument

I was looking for a different way to compose the Washington Monument when we walked past the Smithsonian. This archway was exactly what I was looking for, but the exposure would be a little tricky due to the wide range between the building’s shadows and the sunlit sky. I set up to get as much detail out of the foreground as possible while being especially careful to not blow out the sunset’s highlights. Everything worked out just right.
